Natalie Sampson

Dr. Natalie Sampson is an Associate Professor of Public Health at University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she teaches courses in environmental health and community organizing. Through her community-engaged research, she examines the climate and health implications of land use and infrastructure to inform policy, program, and land use solutions toward environmental justice. With diverse partners, she uses a broad methodological toolkit, including surveys, concept mapping, photovoice, and health impact assessment. Her research is published in various peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Public Health, Environmental Justice, Landscape and Urban Planning, Health and Place, and Progress in Community Health Partnerships. Dr. Sampson is the Chair of the American Public Health Association’s Environmental Section. In 2019, she was the recipient of the Carol Hollenshead Inspire Award for Excellence in Promoting Equity and Social Change from University of Michigan’s CEW+.  She is also the co-founder of the Environmental Health Reseach-to-Action Youth Academy with academic and community partners: https://ehra.umd.umich.edu/.
