Detroit is home to heavy industry and is a major transportation hub, two characteristics that keep pollution levels high and air quality low. Although the city and the region have made much progress to improve air quality, there is still much work to be done to protect residents from the harmful effects of air pollution.
In 2017, a partnership between academic, community, and government organizations – Community Action to Promote Healthy Environments (CAPHE) – published its Public Health Action Plan (PHAP) providing evidence-based and community-informed recommendations to improve air quality.
To support the use of the recommendations and strategies outlined in the Public Health Action Plan, CAPHE sponsors the Take Action on Air Quality Mini Grants. Download the application and find out more on our website, or keep reading and learn more about the grants below:
What are the Take Action on Air Quality mini grants?

Any Detroit area resident, neighborhood group or organization may apply, including but not limited to block clubs, art groups, service organizations, churches, parks and recreational organizations, professional associations, and school-based groups can apply for these grants, even if they have not worked on air quality projects before.
